The Orientation Session for New Lessees

When someone purchases a building on Colony land (land owned by the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation) they acquire ownership of the building and other improvements, but only a 99 year lease on the land. Rather than paying real estate taxes to the various levels of government, they pay rent to the Single Tax Corporation, and the taxes are paid out of the rent proceeds by FSTC. Upon leasing this land, people come to the FSTC office for an orientation explaining this unique system. The lease transer procedure can be found on the Forms & FAQs page.

Committees of the FSTC

Currently, the active committees of the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation are: Education, Rent Study, Finance, Membership, and Cemetery. There is also a separate entity: the Cemetery Trust.
